Why is a Gurdwara important in a community??
A Gurdwara is very important in a Sikh community. Although it isn't vital, it helps a community and we feel forces people to work together.
For example; people volunteer to cook the Langar and then it is served to members of the public for free. Everyone is shown equal respect in the Gurdwara including the Gurdwara itself. For example; all rules are followed and accepted with gratitude.
Obviously Sikhs respect their Gurdwara and rely on it for many things including shelter, food and drink and guidance from God. This is shown as Sikhs look after their Gurdwara themselves and pay for its upkeep.
